On January 14th, 2020, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) hosted a Spring Festival reception for foreign diplomatic envoys to China in Beijing. Qin Gang, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, as well as foreign diplomats to China from 49 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and having close ties with China in economy and trade, were in attendance.
Chen Siqing, chairman of the ICBC of China, expressed in his speech that China and the rest of the world are now increasingly interconnected. Led by the high-level opening-up policy, the ICBC has blazed a new path in international development with over 460 billion dollars worth of overseas assets and branches set up in 48 countries and regions. The total assets of ICBC hit 30 trillion RMB, taking a higher position than other global banks. The substantial achievements were made thanks to the instructions and help of relevant national departments and foreign diplomats to China. It is expected to actively play the role of a bridge in order to serve the “Belt and Road” Initiative, boost high-level opening-up, promote sustainable development and contribute to the building of the community with a shared future for mankind.
Qin Gang said in his speech that the ICBC has been registered as the largest bank in the global. It’s substantial achievements have demonstrated the rise of China’s strength, and China’s integration into international cooperation. Meanwhile, the ICBC has proactively supported Chinese diplomacy and served the “Belt and Road” Initiative as many branches in 48 countries and regions were set up to contribute to regional economic and social development. It is believed that the ICBC will have a better future.
At the reception, the attendees got a closer look at the ICBC’s results in international development, the “Belt and Road” financial services and technology. Besides, they also had in-depth exchanges in relevant topics to further enhance mutual understanding and to open up about future cooperation and vision for development.
