Recently, the (20th) Hainan Island International Tourism Carnival 2019, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Hainan Provincial People’s Government, kicks off in Haikou. Liu Cigui, Party secretary of Hainan, Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan, Zhang Xu, vice minister of Culture and Tourism, Akosita Lavulavu, Tongan minister of Infrastructure and Tourism, and other guests were present.
Zhang Xu noted in his speech that the international tourism carnival has been regarded as important moves to implement strategic deployment made by the Party’s Central Committee and the State Council, which will help Hainan to fully present its tourism resources as a tropical island, and to further attract tourists to go sightseeing in Hainan. Meanwhile, it will also help enrich the cultural life and experience within Hainan and inject new impetus to the construction of Hainan international tourism and consumption center. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will continue to support Hainan in deepening the integrated development of culture and tourism and building world-renowned tropical tourism destination for leisure.
Shen Xiaoming expressed that the carnival is an important platform for Hainan to enhance exchanges and cooperation in tourism, culture and sports with other countries. It focuses on the in-depth fusion of culture, tourism and sports when taking the construction of international tourism and consumption center and international tourism and consumption year into account. Currently, Hainan is building the pilot free trade zone with high standard and quality, and speeding up the construction of free trade port with Chinese characteristics in order to set a good example of deepening reform and opening up in the New Era. The investors are sincerely welcomed to invest and start business in Hainan and share new opportunities from development.
Akosita Lavulavu said in his remarks that President Xijing announced the year of 2019 as “China-Pacific Island Countries Year of Tourism”. While the carnival, as a significant carrier of its vision, is of great importance to build world-class platform for tourism trade and cultural exchanges. Tonga will proactively participate in the events and enhance dialogue with Hainan on cultural exchanges and tourism development so as to foster more opportunities for exchanges and cooperation.
The carnival will run through December 31st. The main venue was set up in Haikou with 5 paralleled venues in Sanya, Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning and Lingshui. During the event, there are 17 major events including the opening ceremony, “Happy Hainan” tourism promotion, and fine arts exhibition of the National Art Museum of China, as well as more than 200 activities within the theme month of all-for-one tourism.
