An exhibition centered around Dunhuang kicks off in Israel

On the evening of November 14th, an exhibition centered around Dunhuang - the digital Dunhuang exhibition, titled “The Pearl of the Silk Road Living in Digitized Eternity” and the Chinese painting exhibition, titled “Pilgrimage Dunhuang”- kicked off in China Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.
By virtue of digital technology and paintings, the exhibition presented Israelis with Chinese artistic treasures including various exquisite murals and sculptures, and offered them a precious opportunity to discover their history, culture and arts. Wearing virtual reality glasses, visitors are able to appreciate the majesty of the famous caves, sculptures and paintings from the Mogao Grottoes, and interact with them.
In the evening, .the visitors wore virtual reality glasses to have a close encounter with Mogao Grottoes. Besides, the specialists from the Dunhuang Academy gave a lecture titled “Duanghuang is embracing the world”, which depicts charming Mogao Grottoes form history and arts, 
“Dunhuang is a famous historical and cultural site in China and is an important city along the ancient silk road, a bustling trade route linking China, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Mogao Grottoes is undoubtedly prestigious around the world for its Buddhist murals and sculptures,” said Tao Chen, the director of the China Cultural Center in Tel Aviv, at the opening ceremony of the exhibition event, adding that the exhibition offers Israeli people great opportunity to understand the Mogao Grottoes. 
Wang Chunsheng, the deputy director general of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Gansu Province, expressed that the Dunhuang murals, covering an area of 45 thousand square meters, registered the longest-existing,, largest, richest and best-preserved “Art Gallery” in the world, as well as unique treasure of painting art. The arts exhibition event is of great significance to promote cultural and art exchanges between China and Israel and bring two people closer.
