Wang Yi meets with diplomatic envoys of the ten countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in China

On October 29th, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with diplomatic envoys of the ten countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in China.
Wang Yi said that China and the ASEAN countries should make joint efforts to cope with risks and challenges.  We should cooperate with each other to uphold multilateralism, and adhere to coordination and cooperation to safeguard regional peace. 
The diplomatic envoys expressed that the ASEAN side is willing to intensify communication and cooperation with the Chinese side to ensure the full success of the series of Leaders’ Meetings on East Asia Cooperation.
Both sides agreed to strengthen the integration between the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN’s Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity, discuss the construction of the China-ASEAN blue economic partnership, enhance cooperation in areas including digital economy, further deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strive to conclude the negotiations on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership within this year, and safeguard multilateralism and free trade together.
