On October 29th, Zhang Xu, vice-minister of Culture and Tourism, met with Vikram Misri, Indian ambassador to China, in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on deepening exchanges and cooperation in culture and tourism.
Zhang Xu spoke highly of the new progress made by the two sides in culture and tourism. He expressed that China and India has seen in-depth development in cultural and tourism with abundant results under the guidance of two heads. Previously, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully held the second informal meeting and reached important consensus in culture. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will proactively implement consensus by two leaders and execute the follow-up events of the second meeting of China-India high-level mechanism for people-to-people and cultural exchanges on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2020.
Vikram Misri appreciated the support of Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism. He said that the cultural and tourism cooperation between two ancient countries in Asia is important content of people-to-people and cultural exchanges. India is willing to work jointly with China to hold cultural and tourism events for 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India in 2020.
