Hosted by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture, Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association, Propaganda Department of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee, Gansu Culture and Tourism Bureau, Women’s Federation of Gansu, CPC Longnan Municipal Committee and Longnan People’s Government and co-hosted by Cultural Exchange Organization of Presenting China to the World, China (Longnan) Qiqiao Festival and the Forum for Women in Development was held in Beijing on August 1, 2014.      

Nearly 300 leaders and representatives home and abroad attended the forum including Vice Chairman of the 10th National People’s Congress and Director of the Working Committee Gu Xiulian, Vice Chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC Wang Zhizhen, former Party group member of the Ministry of Culture and Vice Minister Chang Keren, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee Lianji, Vice Chairman of China Women’s Federation Yu Hongqiu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Central Committee for Discipline Inspection and former Vice Director of the Security Bureau and Director of the Politics Ministry Shen Xuekui, Secretary General of Cultural Exchange Organization of Presenting China to the World Cui Jianghong and Secretary of CPC Longnan Municipal Committee Sunxuetao; Pakistani ambassador to China Masood Khalid, Hungarian ambassador to China Andrea Cecilia SZILAS, Zambian ambassador to China Lupando Mwape, Kyrgyzstani ambassador to China Kanaiym Baktegulova, Indonesian ambassador to China Sugeng Rahardjo, Jordanian ambassador to China Yahya Qaralleh etc., totaling 25 envoys to China; Cabinet member of the Republic of Mauritius and Minister of Women’s rights, Child Development and Family Welfare Maria Francesca Mireille Martin, Minister of Kyrgyzstani Women’s, Children’s and Sport Ministry and President of the Congress of Women Zamira Akbagysheva, Secretary General of Belarus Women’s Development Federation Rust Lalovitch, representatives from 9 international women’s organizations such as Pakistani National Committee for Women’s Status Uzma Noorani; national folklore experts, national representatives, researchers and scholars for women’s career development, artists and outstanding individuals from Gansu in Beijing. More than 40 news medias had covered the news of the opening ceremony including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV and so forth.

Secretary of CPC Longnan Municipal Committee Sunxuetao, Pakistani National Committee for Women’s status Uzma Noorani, Hungarian ambassador to China Andrea Cecilia SZILAS, Vice Chairman of China Women’s Federation Yu Hongqiu etc. made remarks while President of the Congress of Women Zamira Akbagysheva delivered a keynote speech. Remarks made by Vice Chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC Wang Zhizhen were of great significance.
