Zhang Xu meets with Sri Lanka Executive Secretary of Housing, Construction, and Cultural Affairs

On September 2nd, Zhang Xu, vice minister of Culture and Tourism met with a governmental delegation led by Vasantha, Sri Lanka secretary of Housing, Construction, and Cultural Affairs, in Beijing. Both sides had in-depth exchange of views on further boosting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Sri Lanka. 

Zhang Xu said with the efforts of the two countries, China and Sri Lanka have seen smooth exchanges and cooperation in various fields, which play an important role in boosting bilateral ties and deepening friendship between two peoples. China is willing to strengthen practical cooperation in many fields, such as culture and art, archaeological excavation, intangible cultural heritage and personnel training, thus enhancing cultural exchanges under multilateral frameworks including “Belt and Road” Initiative and achieving new development in cultural cooperation. 
Vasantha noted that Sri Lanka attaches great importance to cultural exchanges between two countries and agreed on the proposal of enhancing cultural exchanges and cooperation. In the future, they will strengthen communications with China so as to jointly promote cultural relations.
