As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a series of celebrations will be warmly held in Beijing, capital of China. On August 29th, Wang Xiaohui, executive deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, introduced the arrangement of the celebrations at the press conference of the State Council Information Office. Heads of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDPC), the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Beijing municipality and the office of the leading group for the military parade were present and answered questions of the press.
Wang Xiaohui said that the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China will showcase China’s glorious journey, great achievements and valuable experience since its founding. The events will highlight the great struggle, project, course and dream led by the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as its core after the 19th CPC Conference. Meanwhile, the events will also encourage the entire Party, military, and people of all ethnic groups in China to rally closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, as well as remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

On October 1st, a grand gathering to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China will be held in Tian’anmen Square and President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will deliver an important speech at the event. A military parade and mass pageantry will be held following the gathering.
At a grand evening gala in Tian'anmen Square on National Day, Party and state leaders will join the public to watch performances and a fireworks show.
Besides, Xi will also present the Medals of the Republic, Medals of Friendship and national titles of honor to outstanding individuals at an award ceremony to be held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.The medals will be awarded to the following individuals: living veterans and comrades who participated in the work on the revolution before the founding of the PRC, living individuals who received honors and awards at the state level and above after the founding of the PRC, living service personnel and veterans who received honors above the first-class merit citation for fighting wars after the founding of the PRC, and foreign friends who have made outstanding contributions to the founding of the PRC.
On September, 30th, the country's Martyrs' Day, people from various sectors, including Party and state leaders, will present flowers to deceased national heroes at the Monument to the People's Heroes at Tian'anmen Square.
With the name of President Xi, a National Day reception will be held at the Great Hall of the People and President Xi will give an important speech. Meanwhile. A large-scale gala featuring music and dance will be staged to celebrate its 70th anniversary founding.
From September, the Beijing Exhibition Center will host a large-scale exhibition on the achievements of the PRC in the past seven decades. The CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission will jointly issue medals in commemoration of the 70TH anniversary of the PRC as part of the celebrations. Moreover, commemorative coins and stamps will be issued and a documentary will be made.
The celebrations will also be carefully budgeted and avoid extravagance. Therefore, local regions and departments will held various celebrations according to the overall deployment of the CPC Central Committee. In the meantime, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party is conducting colourful events, including the large-scale interview with a theme of “Seven Decades of Spectacular History and A New Era of Diligence” and campaigns of “My Homeland and I” and “Most Beautiful Worker”, to pay tribute to a new China and strive for a new era.
