China Longquan Celadon Exhibition is unveiled in Madrid, Spain

On June 21st, the Longquan Celadon Exhibition themed “Hearing the World through Celadon” and “Tracing the Root of Celadon” tourism promotion was launched at China Cultural Center in Madrid, Spain.

It is said that this exhibition covers 5 sections including “The Inheritance of Celadon”, “The Story of Celadon”, “The World of Celadon”, “The Spirit of Celadon” as well as “The City of Celadon”. During the exhibition, more than 50 exhibits will be displayed and Longquan tourism resources will be introduced. Meanwhile. the lectures of porcelain wares will be also organized. The exhibition will last until July 13th.
Co-hosts of the exhibition include Network Center of International Cultural Exchange under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of PRC, China Cultural Center in Madrid, China National Tourist Office in Madrid, and Longquan Municipal Government of Zhejiang Province.
“We are expected to carry forward China’s porcelain culture and bridge China and western countries in cultural and tourism exchanges with delicate Longquan celadon and its people’s readiness from thousands of miles away.” said Song Wei, deputy director of the Network Center of International Cultural Exchange.
Wang Fan, member of the Longquan Municipal CPC Standing Committee and minister of Longquan Publicity Department, addressed the opening ceremony. According to him, Longquan celadon was firstly made during the Three Kingdom period and reached its peak in Song Dynasty. For hundreds of years, it has been such a popular product along the Maritime Silk Road that witnesses friendly exchanges between China and dozens of foreign countries.
In 2009, the traditional craft of Longquan celadon was inscribed on the UN Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
