On December 15th, the opening ceremony of the Oral Legacies-Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Exhibition was held in Beijing. Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and Xiang Zhaolun, vice-minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, have attended the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Carrie Lam said this exhibition will present audience with colorful traditions and craftsmanship, and demonstrate Hong Kong’s persistence and inheritance of fine Chinese traditional culture. HKSAR government will commit to protecting and inheriting intangible cultural heritage and safeguard our spiritual home shared by Chinese nation.
Xiang Zhaolun awarded the certificate of representative project of the fifth national intangible cultural heritage to Liu Changshou, typical promoter of Guqin.
This exhibition was co-held by Prince Kung's Mansion Museum and Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It mainly introduced a total of 20 items of intangible cultural heritage from Hong Kong, including art performance, festival activities and traditional technique. What Hong Kong has achieved in the conservation of intangible cultural heritage is closely related to great support from central government, and demonstrates Hong Kong’s efforts to fuse into the general development prospect of culture and tourism.
The exhibition will remain open until Jan 5. There are still many activities including academic symposiums, live show and experiencing of intangible cultural heritage.
