A national meeting of publicity department heads of the Party committees is held in Beijing
On January 6th, a national meeting of publicity department heads of the Party committees was held in Beijing. Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He said, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the publicity officials are urged to strengthen “four confidence”(confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture) , firmly stick to “four consciousness” (consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment) and fulfill the mission of “two safeguarding”(safeguard Xi’s core position in the Central Committee and the whole Party and uphold the authority of the Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership.). Meanwhile, they are also expected to shoulder the mission of holding high the banner, uniting people, fostering new generation, prospering culture and showing image so as to innovate publicity and ideological work, and provide powerful ideological guarantee and strong spiritual strength for the course of nation and the Party.
Wang stressed that the Central Committee with Xi Jinping as its core highlight the publicity and ideological work, whose role, direction, mission, focus and basic requirements are demonstrated in the discourses of Xi Jinping. We are urged to study and implement Xi’s important concepts on ideological and publicity work in that they are regarded as the guideline for us to do publicity work well.
Wang pointed out that we should help all Party members closely follow, in both thinking and action, the well-conceived assessment and strategic plans of the Central Committee, and give first priority to studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Besides；we should pay attention to the minority of leaders and officials, conduct in-depth research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and further make it universally available as well as align ourselves with Party’s innovative theories and use them to guide practice. At the same time, we are desired to perform our duty of advancing publicity works with celebrating the 70 anniversary of New China as its main theme; we should cultivate a warm atmosphere and create a mighty force to forge ahead; we should reinforce the Party’s full leadership in publicity and ideological work, insist on taking the political construction as top priority and strengthen the competence of officials and elites so as to hold firmly the leading position in ideological work.
Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting and made work deployment. Huang underlined holding high the banner of new era thought in order to better perform publicity and ideological work and move further forward the study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He urged the publicity officials to usher in praising New China and striving for a New Era; they are also required to pay attention to boosting confidence, uniting people, warming hearts and building one dream; they need to cement and expand advantages of public opinions of securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society and pushing ahead with the development of reform; they are expected to deepen the construction of socialist core values and foster new generation who shoulder the mission of national rejuvenation; they are encouraged to create cultural and intellectual products, and pursue high-quality development of culture in order to fulfill people’s expectation for spiritual life; they are advised to improve innovation as they engage in international communication, thus presenting a true, multidimensional and panoramic view of China to the world. We should take enhancing its political building as the overarching principle and make comprehensive efforts to ensure that the Party's political work is stressed and ideology is strengthened, and educational practise is conducted to reinforce “four abilities”(persistence, insight, thinking, writing). thus embracing the 70 anniversary of New China with high spirit and great achievements.
Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and Sun Chunlan, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese vice premier, attended the meeting.
