2019 “China-Laos Tourism Year”-Lao Tourism Promotion Held in Shanghai

On March 7th, 2019 “China-Laos Tourism Year”-Lao Tourism Promotion took place in Shanghai International Convention Center. Zhang Xu, vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Bosengkham, Lao minister of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, and Zong Ming, vice mayor of Shanghai People’s Government, were present. 

“It is an important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Bounnhang Volachith to hold “China-Laos Tourism Year” and the remarks by leaders of two countries were sent to its opening ceremony. ‘China-Laos Tourism Year’ embodies the special and close friendship between China and Laos, and starts a new chapter for tourism cooperation of two sides.” said Zhang Xu, believing that the activities of China-Lao Tourism Year will be conducive to increasing visits, building a new platform for people’s connectivity and injecting new vigor to the establishment of strategic community of shared future.
Zong Ming noted that the frequent tourism exchanges between Shanghai and Laos has been seen in recent years with new opportunities being offered for tourism cooperation through this promotion. It is hoped to continue to deepen cooperation between tourism departments and enterprises, thus increasing two-way tourists.
Bosengkham pointed out that the tourism has become an emerging industry for Lao economic development. Laos will continuously optimize tourism environment and improve tourism facilities. More Chinese tourists are encouraged to visit Laos through a series of tourism promotions held by 2019 “China-Laos Tourism Year”.
This tourism promotion is a major event of 2019 “China-Laos Tourism Year” held by Laos in China. Attendees includes officials from the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Public Works and Transport,  Department of Civil Aviation(Laos) and Lao Airlines. During the promotion, Lao introduced its tourism resources and products to 900 people from local relevant departments and major tourism companies.
