On April 16th, a promotional event for Tianjin, themed as “A Dynamic Tianjin Going Global”, took place in Beijing. Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee and Wang Yi, state councilor and foreign minister of China, attended the event and delivered speeches. Zhang Guoqing, mayor of Tianjin, delivered promotional remarks. This event was attended by more than 500 people from home and abroad including Chinese Vice-Foreign Ministers Le Yucheng, Qin Gang and Zhang Hanhui, as well as foreign diplomats to China from over 150 countries, representatives of international organizations and business area, experts and scholars from China and foreign countries and media members.
Tianjin is a pioneer of China's modern industrial development, Wang Yi said, and has been unswervingly implementing new visions for development in recent years with a vibrant course of reform and opening-up being seen. Since President Xi put forward the Belt and Road Initiative, Tianjin, as a place where land and maritime Silk Road meet, as well as an important city along the New Eurasian Land Bridge Economic Corridor, ushers in a new round of reform and opening-up.
The second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held next week in Beijing, Wang said. We will uphold the principles of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration and follow the guidance of mutual benefit and win-win so as to pursue a high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative. Thus, it is hoped to work hand in hand to build an open global economy, break new ground for international economical cooperation and inject strong impetus to a prosperous world.
Wang stressed that it is an irreversible trend to pursue openness and cooperation, which are also durable momentum for China’s development. There will be more opportunities for China’s development and innovation as its door will be open wider to the world. Meanwhile, China and the world are sure to keep exploring win-win cooperation
Since the Eighteenth CPC National Congress, the General Secretary Xi Jinping has planned a blueprint for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy, which injects strong impetus to Tianjin’s development, and offers an historical opportunity for its development. Under the guidance of the philosophy of innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing, it will be seen for Tianjin to insist on opening up and deeply integrate itself to the construction of Belt and Road initiative. Besides, Tianjin is expected to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other countries in multiple areas so as to write a new chapter of development featuring mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.
Zhang Guoqing, mayor of Tianjin, promoted Tianjin from modern transportation and logistics, business environment, industrial system, scientific and educational resources, history and culture, ecological construction. He welcomed friends from home and abroad to share opportunities, strive for development, thus embracing a bright future.
The foreign ambassadors to China, including Andrey Denisov from Russia, Stanley Loh Ka Leung from Singapore, Neto from Angola, Jang Ha-sung from South Korea and Goetze from German, introduced their exchanges and cooperation with Tianjin. At the same time, Tianjin, featuring both traditional and modern elements, is endowed with unique advantages, they said, with a broad range of cooperation in economic and trade investment, transportation and logistics, ecology and environment, culture and education, manufacture and energy. They hoped to align themselves with new changes of the times in the future to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, build new model of cooperation with Tianjin’s joint efforts and achieve win-win cooperation.
Before the event, the Tianjin municipal government held a seminar on cross-country companies. Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui and Vice Mayor of Tianjin Jin Xiangjun attended the seminar.
