In recent days, a promotion event called “Exquisite City, Happy Weihai” took place in Minsk, capital city of Belarus, to forge deep cooperation and exchanges between Weihai and Belarus in culture and tourism.
“Two countries witnessed an in-depth tourism cooperation because of the successful holding of Belarus Tourism Year in 2018. New measures in visa facilitation, which have been taken to enlarge the scale of tourism visits in both countries, contribute to a new platform for exchanges and cooperation between two sides, as well as provide Weihai with new opportunities to conduct cooperation and exchanges with Belarus.” said Yang Li, vice mayor of Weihai, during the promotion.
She said, tourism resources, in light of substantial differences between two countries, are completed with each other. Belarus, located at East European Plain, enjoys temperate continental monsoon climate while Weihai, a city located at middle altitude coastal regions, features unique marine climate. There are great potential for them to cooperate with each other. She hoped this promotion will serve as a bridge or a bond to enhance mutual understanding, deepen friendship and expand cooperation, thus promoting bilateral tourism cooperation and contributing to the development of bilateral relations.
“With the development of bilateral ties between China and Belarus, the civil communications have also been strengthened. The tourism promotion events for culture and tourism in China will enable residents to have a better understanding of China. Since this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a series of celebrations, including introducing the cities in China to local citizens, will be held by Belarus-China Friendship Association to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between two peoples.” said Ivanova, head of the Belarus Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
The tourism video clips made by Weihai municipal tourism department have been released during the promotion to enable the audience to experience a unique Weihai. Andrea, a Russian youth who resides in Weihai, shared his feelings for this city by virtue of PPT, saying he will commit himself to promote Weihai’s tourism as he has fallen in love with this city once he set foot on it in 2016.
More than 50 representatives from Minsk tourism departments as well as tourism industry of Belarus attended the promotion, during which a memorandum on tourism cooperation was signed by Minsk bureau of sport and tourism and Weihai culture and tourism bureau. Besides, relevant tourism companies also signed agreements on tourism cooperation.
