In the evening of the October 7^th, Supreme Council for Culture of the Cultural Ministry of Egypt held the theme symposium of “the cultural relationship between China and Egypt”. More than 50 officials and scholars of relating fields in the two countries participated to discuss the achievements and the prospects of the cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

    Liao Liqiang, Chinese ambassador to Egypt, delivered a key speech. He said that China and Egypt were two ancient civilizations and our ancestors became friends through travel along the Silk Road. From the beginning of this year, the Covid-19 broke out in the world, bringing unprecedented challenges to the international society, but our practical cooperation, including cultural exchanges, didn’t stop.

    Liao Liqiang said that during the pandemic, Cairo China Culture Center and Egypt’s cultural departments organized a series of cultural events, including “online class, online exhibition, online cuisine display, online performance and online lecture”, all of which were special and of deep influence. Egyptian friends liked these events and payed attention to it. In this way, mutual understanding and friendship were enhanced.

    The general secretary of the Supreme Council for Culture of the Cultural Ministry of Egypt said that in Egypt, cultural activities relating to Chinese culture were always popular among people, which could reflect the close relationship between the two countries and the friendship between our people.

    Magdy Amer, former Egyptian ambassador to China, said that in recent years, China and Egypt had held a series of art and cultural exchanges. Cultural departments and organizations cooperated frequently. The two countries should lunch cultural cooperation in all aspects to promote communication between civilizations so as to contribute more strength to build a common community with a shared future for mankind.

    Attending Egyptian sinologist and experts of China-Egypt relationship came up with their ideas of the importance and necessity of cultural cooperation between the two countries.
