The 2020 “Happy Chinese New Year” celebrations were successfully held from January 8th to 9th in Athens, capital city of Greece.
The celebrations consist of outdoor “Happy Spring Festival Temple Fair” and indoor “Overseas Spring Festival Gala”. A festive atmosphere of China was seen in Athens through the unique Chinese crafts and food in the temple fair, and the traditional Chinese dances, acrobatic performances and magic shows in the gala.
The 2020 “Happy Chinese New Year” celebrations were jointly held by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Chinese Embassy to Greece and the municipal government of Athens. Attendees included Chinese Ambassador to Greece Zhang Qiyue, Greek Minister of Culture and Sports Lina Mendoni Greek Secretary General of Education Apostolis Dimitropoulos.
Mendoni told the reporter that it is impressive to see the blissful performances featuring the traditional and contemporary types of performing. She said that the past year witnessed closer cultural exchanges between China and Greece and it is hoped to further prosper cultural cooperation in 2020.
