On December 1st, the First Academic Symposium for Chinese Teaching took place in University of East Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Experts, scholars and teachers from two countries conducted academic exchanges on current teaching conditions, opportunities and challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bu Yana, director of Chinese Language and Studies Program of School of Philosophy in University of East Sarajevo, said that 160 students has been enrolled to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies since its establishment in 2011. Chinese Language and Studies Program also built the only examination station for Chinese language who has organized five Chinese competitions for college students and four Chinese-bridge competitions for middle school students. Moreover, it will recruit PhD students in 2018.
“It is very hard for many graduates to find a job while graduates who are majored in Chinese language and studies program are sure to be employed”said Bu, noting that great efforts should be made to master Chinese in that it is difficult to learn.
Attending experts, scholars and teachers conducted in-depth communications with papers being read during the symposium.
