Film exchanges have become one of important parts of Sino-Portugal cultural communications. In recent years, frequent cultural exchange activities have been seen, and cooperation in cultural and people-to-people exchanges and education has been strengthened. Therefore, Portuguese people show a great interest to Chinese culture. Both Portuguese people who start to learn Chinese and Chinese students studying in Portugal are on the increase annually under the support of the Confucius Institute. The cooperation in cultural and people-to-people exchanges not only bridges two peoples but also makes a push for comprehensive development of Sino-Portugal relations.
Cultural festivals will be held next year in both countries to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal. For instance, the China National Peking Opera Company will perform shows as Female Generals of the Yang Family in Lisbon and the Chinese ballet will present shows in Porto and Lisbon as well.
