On August 22, the 2024 “Xinjiang is a Wonderful Land” exhibition co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region opened in Korla, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. Rao Quan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ping Xinlai, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sun Hongmei, Vice chairman of the government and Yang Yong, Vice chairman of the CPPCC attended the opening ceremony.
“Xinjiang is a Wonderful Land” exhibition of Xinjiang intangible cultural Heritage, the pairing assistance event, has been held for four years as “Strengthen Cultural Identity and Bonds” brand events. The main venue of this event was located in Korla Convention and Exhibition Center, with an area of 12,000 square meters, bringing together Xinjiang, XPCC and 21 other provinces and cities, a total of more than 300 intangible heritage projects and more than 400 inheritors of intangible heritage. Through the “Colorful Intangible Heritage”, “Intangible Heritage on Fingertips”, “Music and Dance Intangible Heritage”, “Intangible Heritage Market”, “Intangible Heritage Research” and other sections, this exhibition showed the achievements of exchanges and cooperation on intangible cultural heritage protection between Xinjiang and other provinces and cities that provided aid for Xinjiang. The sub-venues included the museum, library and art gallery in Bazhou, Korla Folk Culture Museum and Swan River scenic spot. Series of activities such as exploring cultural museum, special performances, intangible cultural heritage night tour were held, providing visitors access to experience this unique culture.
This activity built an intangible cultural heritage exhibition and promotion platform, providing interactive experience. It focused on carrying out research activities for local youth groups, providing cultural services and products for local tourists, and plays a positive role in further implementing the “Strengthen Cultural Identity and Bonds” projects, promoting exchanges and integration among all ethnic groups and effectively creating a stronger sense of the Chinese nation as one community. The event ended on August 26th.
