On September 20, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Du Jiang met with Saudi Arabian Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Alharbi in Beijing and jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Implementation Plan for Chinese Tourism Groups to Travel to Saudi Arabia.
Du Jiang said on this meeting that to implement the guiding principles of the meeting between Xi Jinping and Muhammad bin Salman, Arabian king-to-be as well as prime minister, during Xi’s visit to Saudi Arabia, and to handle the subsequent matters of “adding Saudi Arabia to the list of destinations for Chinese travel groups”, the two countries have collaborated with each other and make active efforts to sign this Memorandum of Understanding. This shows that both sides attach great importance to developing cultural and tourism exchanges between the two countries. After signing of the MOU, the two sides are expected to actively advance the follow-up work and facilitate Chinese tourism groups’ travel to Saudi Arabia. At the same time, China also welcomes more Saudi tourists to China and strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
Alharbi said that Saudi Arabia values Chinese tourism groups’ travel to Saudi Arabia, and after signing the MOU, the Saudi Tourism Authority will hold tourism promotion activities in China in the near future to empower Chinese tourists to know and understand Saudi Arabia. At the same time, Saudi Arabia will also provide more convenient services for Chinese tourist groups during their tours in Saudi Arabia. At present, thanks to the cooperation between the Saudi Arabian Tourism Authority and China, the Riyadh airport has added Chinese signs, and direct flights from China to Saudi Arabia will be opened in the near future. In addition, Saudi Arabia will encourage more Saudi tourists to visit China.
Officials from the International Cooperation Bureau under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Saudi Tourism Authority were present at the meeting.
