On June 28th, Deputy Minister Lu Yingchuan of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism met with Mr. Olivier Richard, Deputy Director General of Global Affairs, Culture, Education, and International Development at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France and the French coordinator of the China-France High-Level People-to-People and Cultural Exchange Mechanism, in Beijing. The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange regarding the progress of the preparations for the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism in 2024.
Deputy Minister Lu Yingchuan welcomed Mr. Richard's visit to China and briefed him on the progress of cooperation projects the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism discussed with the French Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and relevant cultural institutions during his attendance at the China-France High-Level People-to-People and Cultural Exchange Mechanism Leading Coordinators’ Consultation in France in May this year. He stated that the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism in 2024, which coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, is the result of an important consensus reached by the heads of state of both countries. China is willing to work together with France to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, make efforts to organize the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, elevate China-France cultural relations to a new level, and create a model for exchange and mutual learning between civilizations. Mr. Qin expressed the hope that the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism would serve as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in areas such as culture, art, and youth talent development between the two countries. China supports cultural institutions, art schools, and tourism enterprises of both countries to collaborate on high-level cultural activities, enhance tourism promotion, facilitate two-way personnel exchanges, and promote mutual understanding between the two peoples during the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism in 2024.
Mr. Richard expressed gratitude for China's efforts in preparing for the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. He expressed the desire to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as cultural heritage protection, digital promotion of world cultural heritage sites, and the cultural and creative industries. The French side is willing to maintain close communication with China and join forces in preparing for the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. He believes that with the joint efforts of both sides, the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism will be a complete success, adding to the splendor of the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic relations
