On June 19th, the 20th meeting of the Tourism Cooperation Sub-Commission of the China-Russia Commission for Humanitarian Cooperation was held in Heihe Prefecture Level City. Mr. Lu Yingchuan, Deputy Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Mr. Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, co-chaired the meeting.
Both sides reviewed the cooperation between China and Russia in the field of tourism since the 19th meeting of the sub-commission, shared the current development status of their respective tourism industries, and exchanged views on further deepening cooperation.
Mr. Lu Yingchuan stated that tourism is an important area of China-Russia humanitarian cooperation, which holds significant importance in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism has established close working relations with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. Over the past year, both sides have maintained communication and collaboration on issues such as the resumption of visa-free group tourism between China and Russia, the preparation of the Tourism Cooperation Sub-Commission and the Tourism Ministers Meeting of Mongolia, Russia, and China. They have also maintained close communication and coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and APEC, achieving fruitful cooperation. He suggested that both sides continue to play the leading role of relevant government mechanisms between China and Russia, strengthen exchanges and cooperation on bilateral and multilateral platforms, encourage direct cooperation between the two countries' tourism associations and travel agencies, create more high-quality cross-border tourism routes, and promote a continuous increase in the number of tourists visiting each other's countries.
Mr. Vakhrukov supported China's proposals for promoting tourism cooperation, expressed gratitude for China's support and collaboration within multilateral frameworks, and expressed willingness to jointly implement this year's Joint Action Plan for the Implementation of the "Agreement between the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on the Development of Cooperation on Tourism" adopted in March. He stated that Russia will further enhance service guarantees, enrich tourism products, enhance the appeal of Russian tourism, and strive to create a higher quality, comfortable, and safe travel environment for Chinese tourists.
Both sides also exchanged views on issues such as negotiating a new version of the bilateral government agreement on mutual exemption of group tourism visas and strengthening the work of the joint working group for coordinated actions in the China-Russia tourism field.
Ms. He Jing, Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
After the meeting, Mr. Lu Yingchuan and Mr. Dmitry Vakhrukov jointly signed the meeting minutes.
