2021 Delicacy Sharing·China-ROK Food Culture Sharing was Held

    In the afternoon of September 21st, 2021-2022 China-ROK Cultural Communication Year--Delicacy Sharing·China-ROK Food Culture Sharing was held in Korean Cultural Center in China. The event was held by the Korean Cultural Center in China and China General Association of Commercial Newspaper.

    Kim Jin Gon, president of Korean Cultural Center in China, said in his speech that the “2021-2022 China-ROK Cultural Communication Year” was held in Seoul on September 15th. In the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of ROK and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China announced the formal opening of the “2021-2022 China-ROK Cultural Communication Year”. Through the event, the heads of the two countries expressed their concern of the bilateral relationship and attention of the cultural communication as well as people’s wish to expend exchanges and hope to enhance mutual understanding. China and ROK were neighbors with close people-to-people relationship as well as cultures and food of the same origin. The theme of the event was “friendship enhanced by cultural and future created by joint effort”. The cultural exchanges and mutual-learning would be supported by cultural communication and delicacy of China and ROK. The two countries would see people-to-people communication as the base to spread peace and friendship and create a good future, so as to step on a new starting point of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral relationship.

    Ms. Zhu Dan, director of the cultural communication department of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, delivered a speech on behalf of guests. She especially mentioned that more exchanges led to closer relationship which led to long-term relationship. Feeling and memory imbed in food culture, so it’s a natural bond of communication between people in different countries. “Dae Jang Geum” introduced the world of ROK food to many Chinese. Korean food had been liked by many Chinese while Chinese food, like hot pot, gained the favor of many Korean people. More frequent food exchanges between the two countries brought not only rich tastes, but also firmer mutual cultural learning, solidifying the base of China-ROK friendship. “China-ROK cultural communication year” was a time to give full swing to the effect and advantage of non-governmental communication, cultural communication projects based on new mechanism and enhanced people-to-people communication in all aspects. With all attendees, we could contribute more to the mutual-understanding and friendship of our two countries and seize new developing opportunities of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relationship.

    Performers from China and ROK offered a distinctive traditional performance to attendees.

    After the ceremony, guested went to “Hanweixuan”, a special room for food in Korean Cultural Center in China. Shi Wanrong, vice chairman of China Hospitality Association and chairman of Famous Cook Professional Committee, and a expert of Korean food exchanged their ideas. They make Chinese and Korean food, including candied sweet potatoes, traditional Beijing noodles with soybean paste, Korean-style pancake, soybean paste soup and so on. Under standard instructions of cuisine experts, guests experienced cooking two dishes by themselves, expressing their wishes to share their best thing and to launch more cooperation in more fields.

    The year 2022 was the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Korea diplomatic relationship. Now, we were expecting that the amazing “2021-2022 China-ROK Cultural Communication Year” would inject more driving force to the friendship, enhanced exchanges and cooperation in all aspects between our two countries. Our two countries would safeguard a future that would be peaceful, developing and innovative.
