Xi Jinping, Chinese president, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Committee, visited the National “13th Five Year Plan” Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievement Exhibition in the afternoon of the October 26th. He stressed that, during the period of the “13th Five Year Plan”, China’s science and technology were developed, innovation ability was improved and major achievements were made in basic leading technology, strategic high technology and technology for people’s livelihood, all of which were results made by the all Chinese people, the party, especially science and technology practitioners under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee. Currently, China was on a new journey to construct a socialist modern country for a new era. Scientific and technological innovation occupied an important position and had effect in the overall development of the party and the nation. Chinese working in the fields relating to science and technology should meet the demand of world leading science and technology, the main economic battle field, nation’s major need and people’s healthy, then had firm innovation confidence, seize innovation opportunities, make scientific and technological breakthroughs and solve development problems, so as to shoulder glorious historical mission, to realize high-level self-reliance and independence, to build a country with strong scientific and technological ability and to contribute more to the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation.
Attendees of the exhibition included Wang Qishan, China’s vice chairman, and members of the standing committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, including Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji and Han Zheng.
At 3:45 in the afternoon, Xi Jinping went to Beijing Exhibition Hall. The name of the exhibition was “innovation-driven development towards a nation of strong science and technology”. There were 12 exhibition halls, including foreword, a review of the last 100 years, basic research, advanced technology, major project, agricultural science and technology and social development. More than 1300 objects and more than 200 models presented major scientific and technology achievements originating from a series of important decisions given by the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as it’s core
In terms of world leading science and technology, there were breakthrough of basic and leading science including “Jiuzhang” quantum computing prototype, the second comprehensive scientific research in Tibet Plateau and “Tianji” brain-inspired chip as well as scientific equipment including spallation neutron source and “Insight” hard X-ray modulation telescope. In terms of main economic battle field, there were a new generation of national AI open and innovative platform and “Jinghuahao” shield tunneling machine which had the longest diameter among those produced in China. In terms of major national demand, there were a model of Chinese space station, Mars rover, Chang'e 5 lunar probe, “Fendouzhe” Deep sea manned submersible, Integrated circuit equipment, the first Nuclear high temperature gas cooled demonstration reactor of the 4th generation and the CAP1400. in terms of people’s health, there were Integrated whole body positron emission / magnetic resonance imaging equipment, rice breeding accelerator in unmanned plant factory, the latest results of “science and technology to fight against the pandemic” and “science and technology for Winter Olympic Games”...... Exhibits and models illustrated the major progress and significant achievement in scientific and technological innovation in the “13th Five Year Plan”. Xi Jinping and other heads of governments observed, listened to docents’ introduction and asked questions.
Attendees included members for the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in Beijing, secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, heads of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, members of the State Council, heads of the CPPCC and members of the Central Military Commission.
