The 35^th China Harbin Summer Music Festival was held in Harbin Grand Theatre in the evening of September 15^th. It’s organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Harbin Municipal People’s Government, Art Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Harbin Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism Bureau. Attendees of the opening ceremony included Hu Changsheng, governor and deputy secretary of Heilongjiang provincial party committee, Li Qun, director and secretary of leading party group of the National Cultural Heritage Administration and vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Wang Zhaoli, member of the standing committee of Heilongjiang provincial CPC party committee and secretary of Harbin municipal CPC party committee, Jia Yumei, member of standing committee of the provincial party committee and minister of publicity of provincial party committee, Zhao Ming, director of the standing committee of Harbin people’s congress, and Qin Enting, chairman of the Harbin CPPCC. Sun Zhe, major and deputy secretary of Harbin municipal party committee.

    Li Qun said in his speech, that the China Harbin Summer Music Festival had been the musical art event being held for the most times and lasting the longest time period. In the last 60 years, it’s had became a national cultural event with strong influence and widespread reputation at home and abroad. It had been playing an active and demonstrative role in meeting people’s cultural need and enhancing their spiritual strength. Wang Zhaoli said in his speech that the government in Harbin carried out the strategy to “build a province with strong culture”; explored musical and cultural resource; improved the brand effect of the concert, made the cultural character of the music city more prominent and improved the influence and attraction of the city.

    “Torrential Songhua River” was a large-scale chorus performed at the opening ceremony. It’s composed of three parts, namely “legendary era”, “gratitude to the era” and “embracing the world”, expressing “revitalizing the northeast part of China”, a strong call in this era, as well as wishes to build a modern strong country and to realize the rejuvenation. “On the Sun Island”, “Wusuli Boat Song” and “I Love Snow in the North” were sang in the China Harbin Summer Concert, letting audience recall the 60 years of history of the concert. The song “we are walking on the broad way”, violin melody “Singing a Song for Our Party”, male and female vocal duet “Remember the Original Aspiration”, symphony “Beacon” and the forth movement “The Song to Light” sang the gratitude to the CPC, nation and people. The international feature was showed by foreign songs, including “A Night At Moscow Suburb”, “Alilang” and “Nessun Dorma” and other foreign songs. The amazing songs and performance gained applause from audience.

    60 years had passed since the China Harbin Summer Music Festival started from 1961. The theme of the 35^th concert was “Sing Loud to Step on a New Journey in a New Era”. It focused on the history of the concert. The organizing committee of the music festival stuck to the principle of creative transformation and development given by general secretary Xi Jinping; festival-holding principles of “national standard, innovative thoughts and mass participation”; pandemic prevention and control and principle of “controlling scale and value quality”, so as to support the integration of professional performance and mass cultural activities as well as of culture and tourism and fashion industries. The 35^th China Harbin Summer Music Festival was composed of seven sections, including the opening ceremony, national performance, mass cultural event named “people’s festival and amazing summer in Harbin”, a series of performance named “glorious 100 years”, special show and forum named “the cultural city of east Asia”, cultural presentation event named “charming city in summer” and series of national music collage concert named “amazing performance as the gift to the 100^th anniversary of the CPC”. The concert lasted to the later period of November.

    The two main events for the music festival was the 14^th National Vocal Performance and the 2^nd National Outstanding Music Drama. The 14^th National Vocal Performance was a part of the “national vocal performer nurturing plan” stipulated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to select talents to participate in the training and performance. The authority also organized well-known experts, including Meng Ling, Yan Weiwen, Lei Jia, Yao Hong, Wang Hongwei, Wu Bixia, Cai Guoqing and Guo Rong, to give professional instruction to selected talents to improve their singing and performing skills, just like teachers and students. The organizing departments created a passage for the cooperation and communication between vocal performing talents and national art troupes by inviting people in charge of art troupes directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to watch performance. In the 2^nd National Outstanding Music Drama were 9 outstanding music drama, including “Somewhere Far Away”, from the 81 works declared from all over the country. The performance were of various styles and focused on multiple subjects, including the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and the construction of a moderate prosperous society in all aspects. During the performance, the organization arranged a process of “comment per drama” which meant that experts, artists and the show creators would have a discussion so as to make full use of comments’ leading effect to creation.

    There were other amazing events in the 35^th China Harbin Summer Music Festival. In the “national performance”, there would be the 7^th China Symphony Season--“China Harbin Summer Music Festival” intercity performance in which cities invited were from 6 cities, including Tianjin, Wuhan and Qingdao. The section of “mass cultural event” themed “people’s holiday and amazing holiday in Harbin” followed principles to focus on “people, art, participation and various aspects” and started a series of theme events and nearly thousands of art performances. In the section of “glorious 100 years”, there would be original works of Heilongjiang province and Harbin, including national concert “Always Follow the CPC”, music show “Iron Man in Africa”, ballet “If Sunlight Doesn’t Shine on Me” and symphony concert “The Beacon”. The Shaanxi Radio and Television Folk Orchestra was invited to perform “Unfading Song of Shaanxi” and Changying Troupe was invited to perform “Revolutionary Mark”. 11 special performance troupe from all over the country joined the section of "cultural city of east Asia". In the "charming summer city" section, there were a series of events, including a reading festival named "book-reading in the summer city", "famous musicians' hand-written script from home and abroad", a winter painting exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, revolutionary classical music exhibition of "songs for hundred-year journey" and mass cultural picture exhibition and cultural tourism innovative market of "summer in Harbin" in the past 60 years. "Amazing Performance as a Gift to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC" was a national concert resources and communication platform for musical academies built by 11 high-level conservatories of music resources including Harbin Conservatory of Music, Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Tianjin Conservatory of Music to enhance the influence of "summer in Harbin" music concert in professional music conservatories.
