On August 31^st, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism held a teleconference for the arrangement of the “14^th five year” plan to learn the spirit of the important statement relating to culture and tourism of the general secretary Xi Jinping, to implement decisions and arrangement of the State Council and the CPC Central Committee and to promote the implementation of the development plan of the “14^th five year” plan. Hu Heping, minister and secretary of the leading party group of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attended and delivered a speech. Wang Xiaofeng, member of the leading party group, hosted the conference.

    Hu Heping said that a good implementation of the “14^th five year” plan was a necessity to learn the spirit of Xi Jinping’s statement relating to culture and tourism; to build a socialist country with a strong culture; to realize common prosperity and to carry out high-quality development of culture and tourism to have a clear understanding of the new development stage; to complement the new development belief and services thoroughly as well as to be a part of new development structure. People working in cultural and tourism system needed to improve political positioning and change their thoughts and action according to requirements of the spirit of Xi Jinping’s important statement as well as arrangement of the State Council and the CPC Central Committee. They also needed to have a clear understanding of the urgency and importance of the “14^th five year” plan and enhance their senses of mission and responsibility to carry out the work of culture and tourism in the “14^th five year” plan.

    Hu Heping stressed that we needed to stick to the right direction and complete priorities so as to achieve new effect in tourism and cultural development in the “14^th five year” plan. The government needed to complement the plan and check the standards to list targeted, practical and specific projects and measures for principles and strategic tasks. We needed to see cultural and tourism development as a major national strategy so as to create a cultural and tourism development structure with regional connectivity, balanced coordination and urban-rural integration and to make full use of the leading effect of key cultural and tourism projects.

    Hu Heping required that the government needed to perfect mechanism, pay attention to overall plan and offer strong guarantee for the effective launching of the “14^th five year”; to enhance organization, leadership, reform, implementation mechanism, pandemic prevention and control and employment recovery; to implement the cultural and tourism development plan in the “14^th five year” plan to advance cultural construction and tourism progress to the next stage and contribute more to build a socialist country with strong culture and a socialist modern country.

    Those spoke in the conference were representatives from National Library of China, Jilin Provincial Culture and Tourism Department, Zhejiang Provincial Culture and Tourism Department, Chongqing Municipal Cultural and Tourism Development Committee as well as Policy and Regulation Department and Resource Development Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Bureaus, departments and branch institutes of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as well as heads of bureaus and departments of National Cultural Heritage Administration attended the conference at the main venue. Heads of culture and tourism departments (bureaus) of provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) attended the conference in branch venues in different places.
