On March 30th, a delegate group of more than 30 people including Vladimir Imamovich Norov, secretary general of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and diplomats and ambassadors to China of relating countries visited Xinjiang, accompained by Li Hui, special representative of the Chinese Government on Asian and European Affairs, and Li Xuejun, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee of Xinjiang.
Diplomats and ambassadors to China are from Armenia, Tajikistan, Republic of Belarus, Nepal, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Maldives, Georgia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Ukraine.
During the visit, delegates went to theme exhibitions, religious sites, poverty alleviation projects and boarding schools in Urumchi, Kashgar, Aksu and other places in the autonomous region. They also went to ordinary people’s homes and attended the promotion conference named “Xinjiang is a Good Place”.
After delegates’ arrival in Urumchi in the afternoon of March 30th, they visited the “Fight to Eradicate Terrorism and Extremism Exhibition” in Xinjiang International Exhibition Center. They gained a clearer understanding of the fight against terrorism and extermism in Xinjiang through objects and cases, then spoke highly of the achievement of anti-terrorism and anti-extermism; supported China’s hard effort and hoped that Chinese government would take further strict measures to crack down terrorism and extermism to contribute to world peace.
In Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, members of delegate group experienced it’s colorful culture as well as local customs and practices. They were fond of local handicrafts, including carpets, all kinds of idili clothes and instruments of various shapes made by hand. In White Mosque of Tianshan District and in the Etigar Mosque of Kashgar City in Urumqi Municipality, religious persons introduced the condition of worshiping and teaching clergies as well as the basic infrastructure which meant that mosques should have acesses to clean water, electricity, road, natural gas, telecommunication, boardcast, TV, library, shower rooms and flush toilets. Dipmates and ambassadors praised Chinese government’s action to improve the environment in religious sites and to guarantee the need of religious people. They also spoke highly of China’s implement of policies in protecting freedom of religious belief.
Diplomates and delegates listened to introduction attentively in every place they went to. They communicated with workers in a naan shop, religious people, teachers and students. Through the visit, they learned achievements in terms of social stability, livelihood improvement, solidarity among ethnic groups, religious harmony and economic development.
Vladimir Imamovich Norov said that the construction of the “Belt and Road” offers a platform for communication and cooperation for conuntries along the road. Xinjiang in China is in the core zone of the Silk Road Economic Belt and has been enjoying repid development. He hopeed that through visit and communication, Xinjiang in China and other countries can carry out practicle cooperation in economy and trade to promote cultural communication and people-to-people communication so as to create a better future for each other.
