Not long ago, the 16^th World Leisure Congress whose theme was “Leisure Improves Life Quality” was closed at Jinhaihu International Exhibition Center in Beijing Pinggu District. The congress was hold both online and offline, including a main forum, 14 sub-forums, an expo of international leisure industry, 9 characteristic leisure activities, academic discussion on the front line of world leisure, abundant academic achievements, amazing and various leisure industrial expos and characteristic leisure activities. Leisure life ideals and leisure industries were showed to all walks of life. Communication about leisure ideals from home and aboard was carried out. All of the above promoted the development of leisure industries in the capital of China.

    World Leisure Congress is the most influential academic conference in the world leisure field and also the first world conference participated by visitors from home and abroad in China after the outbreak of the pandemic, so governments and all sectors in society have payed attention to it. On the opening ceremony, keynote speeches were delivered by Cai Qi, a member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and the secretary of Beijing Party Committee, Zhu Shanzhong, executive director of UNWTO, Cristina Ortega, the COO of World Leisure Organization, Shan Jixiang, the former dean of the Palace Museum, Li Baochun, executive vice secretary-general of World Tourism Cities Federation and so on.

    The Congress attracted more than 110 thousand tourists to visit Pinggu District and more than 80 thousand people to participate both online and on-site. 418 enterprises from home and broad were invited to the exhibition. They can offer intellectual support to hold China (Beijing) Leisure Congress one after another, bring the cutting-edge research result in leisure field from home and abroad and creat an academic-result-concentrated leisure field. Two reports are Annual Report on Leisure City Development of China (2020) and Report on Beijing Leisure Development (2020) both of which guide the healthy development of leisure indusry.
