Leaders of World Health Organization (WHO) and League of Arab States (LAS) call for learning from China in the prevention and control of the epidemic

Abdel Nasser, head of the Department for Communicable Disease Prevention and Control of WHO’s Regional office for the Eastern Mediterranean, and Haifa Shaker Abu Ghazaleh, assistant secretary-general and head of Social Affairs of the LAS, hailed China’s effective measures to stem the spread of the epidemic in recent interviews. The World Health Organization calls for other countries and regions to learn from China. 
Abdel Nasser expressed that it is happy to see the progress that the Chinese government has made in curbing the epidemic contagion, hoping that other countries and regions could learn form China. “The WHO appreciated China’s efforts, and learned a lot from China in government level. China has effectively contain the spread of the contagion, especially timely and effective protective measures in Wuhan and other infected cities. The WHO also calls for other countries and regions to learn from China.” he said. 
Nasser said, since the onset of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP), 22 countries in the Eastern Mediterranean region have taken prompt actions to improve their ability to address the epidemic, including unified arrangement of necessitates, deployment of hospitals and preparation for medical and separated facilities. Nasser noted that countries are obliged to enhance communications so as to ensure accurate epidemic information. He appreciated the support given by China and other relevant countries in information. “We also exchange information with the rest of the world, among which China is an important one. So far, we have made positive progress on the basis of information exchanges and appreciated the support given by China and other relevant countries in information.” he said. 
Nasser also spoke highly of China’s assists to other countries such as technological and medical support in African and central Asian regions. 
Haifa Shaker Abu Ghazaleh said that the LAS has paid close attention to the NCP contagion and appreciated China’s efforts in combating the epidemic and disclosing epidemic information and protective plan in an open and transparent manner. She said that the Arabian states are willing to enhance cooperation and communication with China and WHO. “The Arabian states should continue to take joint actions to fight against the contagion. The committee hopes to adopt effective protective plans through enhancing cooperation and communication with China and WHO Meanwhile, I also hope that China will be free from the contagion earlier and help Arabian states.” she said.
