On January 27th, President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, issued an important instruction regarding the novel coronavirus. He urged Party organizations at various levels, officials and Party members to keep in mind people’s interests is the highest priority in the current arduous battle of prevention and control of the contagion. They must remember their original aspiration and mission to lead and unite the people to implement the decisions and policies made by the CPC Central Committee. It is required to firm up their confidence, stay united and take scientific and targeted measures in epidemic prevention and control, allowing the Party flag to “fly high at the frontline of the battleground”.
Xi stressed that Party committees at various levels need to scientifically assess the development of the epidemic, make precise decisions, and act under unified leadership. The leaders and officials of the Party committees at all levels, especially principal comrades in charge, must stay at their posts and fulfill their duties in order to ensure a safe land. The Party organizations and members at the grassroots level should give full play to the role of fortress and pioneer so as to mobilize, organize and and unite the people to carry out coordinated prevention and control efforts. The Party committees at various levels are required to recognize and evaluate the officials in this arduous fight, as well as to encourage and guide them to forge ahead and work bravely to withstand the test and rely on the people to win the battle of the prevention and control of the contagion.
