On January 13th, a reception for retired officials took place in Beijing as the Spring Festival was around the corner. Luo Shugang, Party chief and minister of Culture and Tourism, delivered a New year speech at the reception. Vice-Minister Li Jinzao presided over the reception. Members of the Party group, including Li Qun, Liu Yuzhu, Zhang Xu, Wang Xudong, Wang Xiaofeng, as well as Wang Chunfa, director of the National Museum of China, were in attendance.
More than 1200 people, including former leaders of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Wang Meng, Gao Zhanxiang, Cai Wu, Ai Qingchun, He Guanwei, Chen Xiaoguang, Zhen Xinmiao, Chnag Keren, Zhao Shaohua, Li Xiaojie, Li Hongfeng, Wang Wenzhang, Yang Zhijin, Ding Wei and Wu Wenxue, representatives of retired officials from departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Cultural Heritage Administration and affiliated units, principals and representatives of employees, were present.
Luo Shugang delivered a passionate speech. On behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, he expressed sincere greetings and congratulations to retired officials and comrades. Meanwhile, he proposed that all members of the Party group bow to pay new year call amid last-lasting and warm applause.
Luo Shugang said that the culture and tourism have seen effective progress in reform and development in the year of 2019 marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The system of culture and tourism will uphold the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era and resolve to implement the spirits of President Xi Jingping’s important remarks and instructions. It is expected to push forward the Party building and the building of clean governance in order to seek for new results in serving the whole picture. It is hoped to bolster targeted poverty alleviation and integrated development with numerous highlights seen in various fields.
Luo Shugang expressed that it is a glorious mission and heavy responsibility for culture and tourism as the year 2020 will be the year to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and it is also the final year for the 13th Five-Year Plan. It calls for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and comprehensively implement the spirits of the second, third and fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC National Congress so as to offer fine cultural products and quality tourism products and push forward the reform and development of culture and tourism.
Then, the cultural and art performances begun. Students from Erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument) art troupe, chorus, dance class, and Guzhen (Chinese zither) class of the Aged University of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hulusi flute class of the China Coal Mine Art Troupe, as well as Chinese orchestra of aged artists staged many dazzling shows, including folk music, chorus and dances.
