On December 18th, the “Perceiving China-Beautiful Qinghai” 2019- Qinghai Ethnic Cultural and Art Performance took place in the city of Cuzco, Peru. The performance entertained local people with Qinghai’s colorful and diverse ethnic culture and brought a mysterious, spectacular, natural and grand Qinghai into this historic city in south America.
There are more than 200 exquisite photos exhibited depicting Qinghai’s local conditions and customs, natural scenery as well as social and economic development in recent years. A documentary about Qinghai was released during the exhibition. Qu Zhi. a famous master thangka painter in Qinghai, performed the skills of thangka painting and introduced its cultural and art connotations. Besides, the organizer offered khata, a piece of white silk that represents purity or gratitude, and hand-made folk embroidery sachet, allowing Peruvian people to have a close encounter with Qinghai’s natural landscapes and culture. At the opening ceremony, artists from Cuzco also staged performances for exchange.
Song Jiangtao, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Qianghai Provincial Committee and director of the Information office of the People’s Government of Qinghai Province, said in his speech that Qinghai, with multiple ethnic groups and spectacular landscapes, is a vast and beautiful land in the west of China. Nowadays, Qinghai has been increasingly popular. It is hoped to promote the understanding of Qinghai and China, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of two countries in culture and art, as well as strengthen friendship between two peoples.
Victor Boluarte, mayor of Cuzco, noted in his speech that Cuszo and Qinghai share many features of civilization as they are all located in plateau. It is hoped that the exhibition will deepen Peruvian people’s understanding of Qinghai and allow them to perceive China in a comprehensive way. Meanwhile, more Chinese tourists are welcomed to visit Peru.
