To provide EU and China with broad platform for people-to-people and cultural exchanges

Recently, the “China Day” event was held by Chinese Mission to the European Union (EU) at the Schuman Roundabout in Brussels. During the event, a lot of residents were enchanted by colorful and dazzling activities including virtual reality immersion, interactive workshop, special exhibitions and performances as well as beloved food. The European participants said that the event helped them have a better understanding of China. Meanwhile, they were also shocked by achievements that China has made over the past seven decades. 
The event offered the audience unique cultural experience through various activities including woodblock printing and paper-cutting. “China is like a box of chocolate with wonderful colors. I want to give my thumb-up to a traditional and modern China.” said Alice, who came from Leuven to sample various Chinese programs.
In addition to art exhibitions and performances, the programs also included 3D printing, panoramic movie, VR video clips of Beijing and Shanghai landscapes, clips showcasing the achievements of seven decade and promo videos and pictures of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, China International Import Expo (CIIE) and sports. 
The Belgian Health Qigong Association presented a wonderful and vivid Tai Chi performance. Pierre, head of the association, is a lawyer. His wife studied Chinese medicine in Paris and his daughter is studying in Beijing Sport University. He said that the whole family are Chinese fans. The Qigong school he owned accommodates more than 200 students every week. 
Han Flintrop, a Belgian composer and professor of Lier Academy of Music, performed the music piece “The Silk Road” composed in June. The story of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations was told by virtue of music notes which draw upon different styles along with the Belt and Road. “The exchanges between China and Europe demand the spirit of Marco Polo. The mutual understanding between peoples will ensure long-term development of EU-China ties. The Belt and Road cooperation provide the two sides with broad platform for people-to-people and cultural exchanges.” he told the reporter. 
The hit of the “China Day” event has demonstrated the development of cultural and people-to-people exchanges and China-Europe ties in recent years. Phil Hogan, the European commissioner for agriculture and rural development, said that it will benefit both sides to deepen economic cooperation. In the meantime, there is still great potential in investment and service trade.. The EU will join hands with China to address global challenges. As the next year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides, the new leadership of the European Commission will continue to advance the development of EU-China relations. 
Gunnar Wiegand, managing director for Asia Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS), expressed that.EU and China have seen all-round relations. The EU is willing to work with China to push forward Europe-China ties and yield more visible results.
“China and Europe, as two civilizations, have been contributing for human development and progress since the ancient time,” said Zhang Ming,head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, adding that the long history and traditional culture hold the key to addressing increasing challenges and risks in the world.China is willing to join hands with Europe to pursue a faster, higher and stronger China-Europe relation.
