On September 2nd, the opening ceremony of the Days of Chinese Culture was held at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater in Minsk, capital of Belarus. During the ceremony, a classic Peking Opera masterpiece of China National Peking Opera Company, Female Generals of the Yang Family, has been performed at the stage.
Luo Shugang, Chinese minister of Culture and Tourism, sent a congratulatory letter to the event. Belarusian Officials including Cultural Minister Yuri Bondar and Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Cui Qiming were present.
Luo noted that under the support of heads of both countries, China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership, featuring mutual trust and win-win cooperation, has been developing with fruitful results in cultural exchanges and cooperation. While China Cultural Center in Minsk and Belarus Cultural Center in China serve as a window for cultural exchanges between the two sides. Besides, a series of cultural events such as Days of Culture and “Happy Spring” are held to bridge two peoples.
Bondar said that the friendly visits of the two heads boost the ties as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Both sides will jointly organize colourful cultural events in accordance with the agreement to further enhance mutual understanding and friendship.
At the opening ceremony, artists with China National Peking Opera Company performed Female Generals of the Yang Family, a classic Peking Opera masterpiece. The theater, which was set to accommodate an audience of 1,200, was packed with guests. They were not only cheered for the wonderful acting om the stage, but also touched by the story of the female generals of the Yang Family who choked their grief to fight against enemy and finally won victory after surmounting many difficulties.
Cui Qiming said that the highest-level performance in China brought by China National Peking Opera Company will help Belarus people deepen their understanding of China.
The Days of Chinese Culture, co-hosted by Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Chinese Embassy to Belarus and Belarus Ministry of Culture, will run in Minsk from August 31st to September 4th.
