China Art Exhibition kicks off in Mexico

On August 1st, the “To Celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of Sister Cities between Beijing and Mexico City-China Art Exhibition” event was held in the Mexico City, capital of Mexico. More than one hundred guests and audience were present to enjoy the charm of Chinese arts and culture. 
The exhibition kicked off at the City Hall in Mexico City in the morning of August 1st. During the exhibition, thirty works of Chinese paintings and calligraphy, covering the elements of national treasure Panda and Chinese natural landscapes, were selected to be on display. The audience were impressed by exquisite craftsmanship of Chinese artists as they were painting at the scene. Meanwhile, Mexican artists, who also showed great interests to the artworks, communicated with Chinese artists. 
Lin Keqing, executive vice-mayor of Beijing, said in his speech that Chinese paintings and calligraphy art, with a long history, is cultural treasure of Chinese nation that is of great cultural value and philosophical significance. He hoped that the exhibition will enable more Mexican people to sample Chinese calligraphy and paintings art, enjoy the charm of fine traditional Chinese culture and experience friendly sentiment of Chinese people.  
Alfonso Suarez, head of the Mexico City’s Culture Bureau, expressed that it is cultural exchanges and mutual learning that connect two countries which are separated by the Pacific Ocean. The Mexico City boasts of long history and diverse culture like Beijing. Since the establishment of sister cities, the unprecedented active exchanges and cooperation have been seen between two cities. The Mexico is willing to work jointly with China to boost China-Mexico ties through culture and arts.
