On November 29th, Liu Yuzhu, head of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, met with Minister of Culture and Media of the Republic of Serbia Vladan Vukosavljevic in Beijing. They exchanged views on further deepening and promoting cultural heritage cooperation.
Liu Yuzhu welcomed their visit and introduced the conditions of China’s cultural heritage protection and international exchanges in cultural heritage cooperation, including the “Second China and Central and Eastern European Forum on National Cultural Heritage”, the exploration and planning of historical sites, museum exhibition as well as cultural heritage digitization.
He stressed that Chinese government attaches great importance to cultural heritage protection and National Cultural Heritage Administration are required to strengthen cooperation with “Belt and Road” countries. Serbia is a major country of cultural heritage. Based on the memorandum signed by both sides, we are willing to work jointly with Serbia to expand the scale of cooperation and widen cooperative spheres according to new needs, including museum exhibition and exchanges, heritage protection and restoration, historical site conservation and planning and technical training of professional staff. thus promoting the cultural heritage exchanges and cooperation to a high level.
He also said, “we are looking forward to seeing closer cooperation between museums in both countries, and it is of great significance to undertake in-depth cooperation with Serbia as we have sophisticated teams in terms of historical site protection and planning.”
“We have special affection for China and further cooperation are expected between two sides. Meanwhile, we really appreciate the China’s endeavor to advance cultural heritage protection.” said Vladan Vukosavljevic. It is hoped to conduct in-depth exchanges and support practical cooperation with regard to above matters. We will also share the experience of China-Serbia cooperation with other countries in central and eastern Europe through next “China and Central and Eastern European Forum of Cultural Heritage”. Besides, we will continue to discuss relevant matters during the forum so as to seek for a closer cooperation between two sides.
