On January 15th, Xu Lin, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and director of the State Council Information Office, met with Germany Ambassador to China Clemens von Goetze in Beijing.
Xu firstly welcomed his visit to the State Council Information Office and congratulated on his assuming of new mission. Xu said that we witnessed favorable development momentum of relations between China and German, frequent high-level communications, deepened mutual political trust and substantial achievements of practical cooperation in all areas. It is expected to give full play to the role of institutional platform for dialogues between Chinese and Germany media, enhance the media cooperation and exchanges between two sides and further deepen the understanding between two peoples. Besides, it is hoped that we should tell Chinese and Germany stories well, promote mutual understanding and cement the civil ties of two countries.
Ambassador Clemens von Goetze expressed that the news media, through which mutual understanding between two peoples is enhanced, play a significant role in relations between two countries. It is hoped to work with the State Council Information Office to do a better job in China-German media dialogues, especially in cooperation and exchanges of addressing challenges posed by new media.
Zhang Ye, director of the International Affairs Bureau at the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, Zhang Hongbin, deputy director of the International Affairs Bureau at the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and Wen Ge, deputy head of the International News Bureau, also attended the meeting.
