On June 2nd, Chinese elements added lustre to the rose festival as the 116th Kazanlak Rose Festival came to its pitch at Bulgaria's Rose Valley.

In the parade, there were four performing groups that showcased Chinese elements. The audience were overwhelmed by bright-coloured five-star red flags, dazzling performances of giant dragon, lively lion dances and parade cars loaded with rose products. Chinese tourists account for a large proportion of international tourists who came to watch the celebrations.
Dong Xiaojun, Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria, was invited to attend and watch all celebrations as a special guest. “Ji’nan (in Shandong province), as a friendly city of Kazanlak, has participated in celebrations including Festival parade over the past three years and fruitful outcomes have been seen in cooperation in production and sale of rose products. It is hoped that the cooperation between Kazanlak and China could expand to other cities in China, ranging from tourism and culture to economy and trade.” said Stojanova, mayor of Kazanlak, when meeting with Dong Xiaojun.
“The Kazanlak Rose Festival, as a noted brand of Bulgaria, has gained much popularity among Chinese tourists,” said Dong Xiaojun. “Kazanlak has already made plans for improving infrastructural facilities including hotels, transportation and restaurants. It is hoped that both sides could achieve new progress in culture and tourism, as well as economic and trade cooperation.” he added.
Bulgaria is famous for its rose planting and products in the world. Each year during the June, there are various celebrations held at the Bulgaria's Rose Valley in the center of Balkan Mountains, among which the event in Kazanlak is the biggest one.
