On April 25th, an exhibition of the buildings along with the ancient Silk Road and contemporary artworks named as “Enduring Legacy”, which showcased a magnificent Chinese culture, was unveiled at the Palace of Nations, home of the Geneva office of the United Nations (UN), in honor of Chinese Language Day.

“The exhibition is novel in concepts as the Chinese culture and traditional philosophy are displayed through buildings. At the same time, the values shared by the human society has been spread in that the core convictions in Chinese culture including the unity of heaven and humanity, openness and inclusiveness highly conform to the principles upheld by the UN, such as multilateralism, peaceful cooperation and sustainable development.” Michael Moller, director-general of UN Office at Geneva, addressed the opening ceremony.
“It is unique that this event connected Chinese language to buildings. The cultural concept of “harmony and unity” was not only demonstrated in palaces and temples, pavilions and classic gardens but also in civilian’s houses.” said Li Song, chargé d'affaires of the Permanent Mission of China to the UN Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland, expressing that another highlight was to spread the Silk and Road spirits of peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win through showcasing the buildings along with the ancient Silk and Road.
The exhibition, jointly held by the Permanent Mission of China to the UN Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland and UN Office at Geneva and organized by Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and Tianjin University. introduced the buildings along the ancient Silk Road, traditional Chinese culture and modern arts and design by virtue of pictures, videos and real models.
In 2010, the Grain Rain (Guyu), one of 24 solar terms, was designated as the UN Chinese Language Day, during which various exhibitions for Chinese culture have been held at the Palace of Nations in every April.
