On April 21st, China Tourism Academy Summit 2019—The Second National Academic Forum for Postdoctoral Researchers of Tourism Management was held in Beijing. Luo Shugang, minister of Culture and Tourism, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
“With the advancement of reform and opening-up, the tourism industry has grown to be a significant part of economic and social development. Meanwhile, as the theoretical studies on tourism are being deepened, the workers engaged in tourism theory have committed great efforts to study basic theory, develop disciplines, offer advice and consultation, and guide public opinions according to the relevant decisions and deployment made by the Central Committee, thus vigorously supporting tourism development. They are expected to further study President Xi’s important remarks on culture and tourism, grasp the general trend of tourism studies, be fully aware of the tourism development, focus on the priorities of theoretical studies on tourism and break new ground in tourism studies according to the circumstances in new era.” said Luo Shugang, suggesting that it is hoped to deepen the studies on basic theory, build tourism theoretical system with Chinese characteristics so as to pursue a Chinese-style tourism theory; reinforce applied studies; effectively serve scientific decisions; focus on hotpot issues; strengthen academic exchanges and improve the influence of Chinese tourism studies.
The event, themed as building tourism theory and developing disciplines against the backdrop of the integration of culture and tourism, discussed current theories and academic studies on tourism development. During the summit, the guests of tourism industry delivered keynote speeches named as the Thought on the Integration of Culture and Tourism, Foundation and Direction for Cultural and Tourism Projects, Guidance on the Exploration and Construction of the Integration of College Culture and Tourism Disciplines, as well as To Put Research into the Practice of Integrated Development of Culture and Tourism. At the same time, the events held also include the roundtable forum themed around the review of 40-year tourism studies and the release of Tourism Thinker 2019. Moreover, an agreement featuring the industry-research collaboration was signed among China Tourism Academy, the Academy of China National Travel Service Group Corporation, Art Exhibitions China, Huaqiao Town Tourism Academy, Daye Media Group, Phoenix New Media and Beijing Landsky Company.
The summit was also attended by more than 500 representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences, Ctrip, China Tourism Group, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese National Academy of Arts, Sun Yat-Sen University and Nankai University.
