On December 29th, to implement the consensus of Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance reached in the the 3rd Lancang-Mekong cooperation Leaders' Meeting, Seminar on Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance is successfully hold in Nanjing. The seminar is organized by Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and co-organized by Nanjing People’s Government and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Cultural and Tourism. Zhang Xu, the vice minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Wang Fukang, an ambassador from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hu Wanjin, the vice major of Nanjing Province, deliver speeches. Participators are members of Cambodia Embassy in China, Laos Embassy in China, Myanmar Embassy in China, Thailand Embassy in China, Vietnam Embassy in China, ASEAN-China Center, 13 cities belonging to the first batch of Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance and relating representatives from Cultural and Tourism Departments.
According to Zhangxu, in recently years, Lancang-Mekong cooperation has been developing in all aspects. The project of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is moving forward. Cultural and people-to-people communication between countries along the Lancang River or the Mekong River is more frequent. Tourism is significant for Lancang-Mekong cooperation, so cooperation between cities for Lancang-Mekong cooperation are meaningful because cities are driving forces for tourism development. The perfection of Lancang-Mekong tourist cities cooperation alliance is vital to implement leaders’ consensus and is a specific measure to support the construction of a domestic and an international circulation, is significant to promote communication and cooperation of Lancang-Mekong tourism and to push the integrated development of Lancang-Mekong tourism. He expects that Lancang-Mekong tourist cities cooperation alliance can lie a solid foundation for the future by focusing on practical cooperation, specialty, smart tourism development, the integration of culture and tourism and the shaping of Lancang-Mekong tourism brand.
Wang Fukang says that holding Seminar on Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance is an important measure to implement consensus of leaders’ meeting and a resolution of Lancang-Mekong countries to fight against the pandemic and recover economy together.
Chinese Participators engage in discussion and give suggestions relating to The Work Plan for Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance and Five-Year Plan of Action on Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. They say the base of Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance are mutual-benefit and win-win cooperation, which is not only in line with cultural and tourism cooperation need, but also support China’s dual circulation against the backdrop of normal prevention and control of the pandemic. Representatives from Cambodia Embassy in China, Laos Embassy in China, Myanmar Embassy in China, Thailand Embassy in China, Vietnam Embassy in China appreciate China’s leading role and say that they will select cities to join the alliance as soon as possibly and prepare to deepen tourism cooperation during the pandemic.
The government in Nanjing, one of first batch of cities listed in Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance, holds a tourism development promotion conference, showing the uniqueness and advantages of Nanjing and other Chinese cities.
