On November 6th, a series of innovative events for Chengdu’s culture and tourism took place in Los Angles, America. It was the first time that the mayor office of Los Angles had joined hands with Chinese local government to organize such events.
Two adorable panda dolls were welcoming the guests. The exquisite photo exhibition offered local residents Chnegdu’s splendid culture and picturesque scenery. Meanwhile, the traditional Chinese cultural performances including paper-cutting, sugar painting, tea ceremony and Chuan Opera have won cheers at the scene.
Miguel Sangalang, vice mayor of Los Angels, warmly greeted the Chinese guests who are from the “capital of panda”, expressing that Los Angels has received more than 1.2 million Chinese tourists over the past year for its beautiful landscapes and cultural and tourism landmarks including Hollywood and Disney Land. Moreover, he also shared the way of attracting international visitors through entertainment and cultural innovation. He briefed on some creative topics, such as its original brands, governmental team in innovation and the development of technology and data. “The events will enable us to exchange culture and knowledge with each other.” he said.
Duoyang Namu, head of Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, said that the events showcased colorful and splendid ancient Sichuan culture and Chinese culture. The two sides will seen new progress in cooperation by virtue of cultural tourism. She noted that the second overseas promotion center for Sichuan cuisine was established in 2016 in Los Angels to help American people have a understanding of Chengdu through food culture. In 2017, the two cities opened direct flights shortening travel time to 13 hours, which significantly promotes the two-way visits.
“I visited China before, but I have never gone to Chengdu. It is hoped to experience a different culture and have a taste of various foods if possible in the future.” said Brillstein who is involved in tourism industry.
