In the ongoing 39th Paris Book Fair, the Chinese Belt and Road series with multiple languages have caught a lot of attention from French readers..
It is a significant part of Chinese exhibition to exhibit the Belt and Road books including “Belt and Road’ story series published by Foreign Language Press, A Journey on the Silk Road introducing the traditions and customs in Silk Road countries, as well as the books depicting cultural landscapes of the Chinese provinces involved into the Silk Road, such as silk, Mogao Grottoes and Tang clothes. These books have many versions with different languages including Chinese, French and English.
Gaillard Leo, a student from the First University of Paris, was reading A Journey on the Silk Road at Chinese zone. She told the reporter that it has been nine years since she started learning Chinese, and many interesting stories in the Silk Road were found in this book.
According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Culture, Chinese has ranked first in French translation and publishing for many years as French readers have an easy access to Chinese literature books including French Records of the Historian,Tang and Song poetry, and contemporary novels.
“The books themed as the Belt and Road have become a blazing platform for Chinese culture to go global. In the meantime, some books featuring the stories of cultural exchanges and people-to-people connectivity have gained much popularity among overseas readers.” noted Liu Mengchun, a member of Chinese publishing delegation in Paris Book Fair.
Li Shaoping, cultural counsellor at the Chinese embassy in France, said the book publishing has become one of the most dynamic areas in cultural exchanges between China and France.
The Paris Book Fair is the most important book exhibition in Europe. This year’s fair endures from March 15th to 18th in Versailles Gate Convention Center.
