On October 27, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Rao Quan met with Bahraini Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla Adel Fakhro in Beijing. They signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Rao Quan said that thanks to the care and promotion of the two heads of state, China-Pakistan relations had made great progress and the bilateral cultural and tourism cooperation had kept advancing. China would be committed to fulfilling the eight major steps China would take to support our joint pursuit of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation announced by President Xi. China was willing to join hands with Bahrain to implement the consensus reached on the China-Arab States Summit and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit. We would carry out further cooperation on cultural and tourism cooperation mechanisms under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen tourism exchanges, and establish cultural centers in each other's countries. China and Bahrain had distinct tourism resources, which appeal to tourists from both sides. China was willing to work with Pakistan to boost the development of new tourism products, enable China and Pakistan to be both tourist source and tourism destination, and lift China-Pakistan cultural and people-to-people exchanges to a new level.
Fakhro said that in recent years, Bahrain had continued to beef up investment in tourism infrastructure construction and thus had made remarkable progress. Bahrain had rich tourism resources and broad prospects for cooperation with China in the field of tourism. Bahrain was willing to take the signing of the MOU as an opportunity to continue to deepen cooperation with China in jointly building the Belt and Road and bring about more achievements in bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
Officials from the International Exchange and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Bahrain Ambassador to China attended the meeting.
