On the evening of June 16th, the grand opening of the 5th China Tibet Tourism and Culture International Expo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region, took place. Thousands of domestic and international guests gathered in the historic and cultural city of Lhasa, known as the "City of Sunlight," to renew friendships, discuss cooperation, and development plan. Mr. Hu Heping, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of CPC as well as Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Mr. Wang Junzheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region, attended the opening ceremony and jointly inaugurated this year's Tibet Expo. In addition to Mr. Hu Heping, Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Chairman of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, and Mr. Yan Jinhai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region and Chairman of the Region, also delivered speeches. Mr. Bat-Erdene, Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia, Mr. Tau'aika 'Uta'atu, Ambassador of Tonga to China, Mr. Lian Yimin, Leader of the 12th Guidance Group of the Central Party Education Campaign and Chairman of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, and Mr. Qizhala, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC and Deputy Director of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs, were in attendance. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Chen Yongqi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The theme of this year’s Tibet Expo is "Experience a Happy New Tibet, Forge a New Journey Together." The event features a rich array of projects and exhibitors, with a combination of online and offline activities, showcasing exhibitions, keynote forums, tourism marketing promotions, investment introductions, and other key events. It will further highlight Chinese style and Tibetan charm, offering a rich cultural and tourism feast to people of all ethnicities and providing a platform for exchange and cooperation for participants.

The post-rain air in Lhasa was fresh, and a rainbow symbolizing auspiciousness hang in the sky. Mr. Hu Heping warmly congratulated the opening of the 5th China Tibet Tourism and Culture International Expo. He pointed out that in recent years, the Party Committee and Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region have deeply studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on Tibet work and the party's strategy for Tibet in the new era. They have focused on maintaining stability, promoting development, preserving the environment, and strengthening the border region. Comprehensive progress has been achieved in economic and social development. Under the strong support and guidance of the Party Committee and the Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, significant achievements have been made in cultural and tourism work. Cultural construction has entered a new stage of high-quality development, and the influence and competitiveness of the tourism industry have continued to grow, injecting a strong impetus into consolidating the sense of a Chinese community and promoting long-term stability, development, and high-quality growth of the Tibetan Plateau. The joint organization of the Tibet Expo by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Government of Tibet Autonomous Region aims to actively build a professional and international exhibition platform to showcase the beauty of Tibet's ecology, culture, history, and achievements in socialist modernization, allowing more people, both domestically and internationally, to understand, learn about, and fall in love with Tibet. Mr. Hu Heping hopes that Tibet will take the opportunity of this Expo to closely align to construct an important site for the protection of distinctive Chinese culture and an important world tourist destination. By leveraging its unique advantages, seizing new valuable opportunities, and tapping into its rich resources, Tibet should strive to enhance the high-quality development of culture and tourism, raise the level of Tibet Expo in terms of distinctiveness, quality, intelligence, and internationalization, and make new and greater contributions to building a new socialist and modernized Tibet that is united, prosperous, civilized, harmonious, and beautiful.

Mr. Ganesh Prasad Timilsina mentioned in his speech that Nepal-China relations have a long and proud history, and the relationship between the two countries has always been very harmonious. Nepal always views China as a good friend. The current Tibet Expo and similar exhibitions are making Nepal's relations with China and China's Tibet more dynamic. He believes that this Tibet Expo will promote tourism between China, Tibet, and Nepal, enhancing the reputation of China and the Tibet Autonomous Region in the international community. He wishes for a successful outcome for this Expo organized by China Tibet, which is a good neighbor and partner of Nepal.

Mr. Yan Jinhai stated in his speech that Tibet is a land of development and progress. General Secretary Xi Jinping has a deep affection for Tibet. He has visited Tibet many times, held two Central Tibet Work Symposiums, personally directed and guided Tibet's development, and led all aspects of Tibet to make comprehensive progress and historical achievements. In this magical land of Tibet, new ideas are taking root, new creations are emerging, new chapters are unfolding, and a new journey is pushing people forward. There are endless praises that can't be sung and boundless joy that can't be contained. To be a part of Tibet is to be a part of the world's greatest dream. Tibet is a land of majestic beauty and mystery, combining the magnificence of the north with the elegance of the south. There is infinite romance and stunning scenery to enjoy. To travel through Tibet is to travel through the world's most extraordinary paradise. Tibet is a treasure trove of Chinese culture, with countless cultural relics and ancient literature, distinct folk culture, and an enduring spirit of the red revolution. To understand Tibet is to understand the world's most brilliant cultural treasures. Tibet is a land of cooperation and mutual benefit. The policy dividends of central care and national support are rapidly being released. With the advantage of being backed by the motherland and facing South Asia, Tibet's accumulated vitality and developmental strength are now erupting, with opportunities everywhere and hope abounding. He sincerely invited friends from all over the world to visit Tibet, provide guidance, and invest in business, jointly shaping a grand plan for mutual benefit and win-win results, creating a better future.

After the opening ceremony, a cultural performance titled "Embracing the New Tibet" was held, featuring traditional operas and musicals such as "Princess Wencheng," "Zhaxi Xueba," "Treading on Happiness," "Here I Come, Tibet," "Hearts and Hands Connected," and "Hada for the New Era." These performances showcased the charm of outstanding traditional Chinese culture and expressed the love of people of all ethnicities for the motherland. They vividly portrayed the achievements of Tibet's economic and social development over the past decade in the new era and sincerely invited friends from all over the world to come closer to Tibet and appreciated Tibetan culture.

Mr. Liu Jiang, Mr. Wang Haizhou, Mr. Lai Jiao, Mr. Ren Wei, Mr. Pubudunzhu, Mr. Gamazedeng, Mr. Xiao Youcai, Mr. Dawa Ziren, and other comrades in the Tibet Autonomous Region attended the opening ceremony. Delegations and diplomats from countries such as Nepal, Mongolia, South Korea, Tonga, Madagascar, Bangladesh, Vanuatu, Micronesia, Syria, Iraq, and Botswana attended the ceremony.

Representatives from the United Front Work Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Health Commission, People's Bank of China, the General Administration of Customs, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the General Administration of Sport, the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the National Immigration Administration, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, and relevant comrades from the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, as well as officials from various national ministries at 21 designated support counties in Tibet, representatives from central enterprises providing assistance to Tibet, relevant comrades from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu, officials from certain provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, domestic and international experts, scholars, enterprise representatives, and cadres involved in assisting Tibet, representatives from various sectors including culture, tourism, commerce, industry, and media both domestically and internationally, all participated in the opening ceremony.
